Model Announcement: Caterpillar D9H Track Type Tractor

We are excited to announce production of our newest hand crafted brass model - the historic Caterpillar D9H Track-Type Tractor – has begun. This legendary machine was originally introduced in 1974 and replaced the D9G.

The D9H was the last version of the D9 series prior to the introduction of the elevated sprocket design. Its power came from a turbocharged Caterpillar D353, an after-cooled six-cylinder engine producing 410 flywheel horsepower.

To maximize the application of this power the D9H came standard with pinned equalizer bar suspension, pilot hydraulic implement system, sealed and lubricated track (SALT), combined braking and steering controls and power-shift transmission.

The model will be produced in 1:24 scale and will measure an impressive 15” long, 7.25” wide by nearly 7” tall.

A fully detailed operator’s cab, positionable ripper and blade, opening cab and a fully detailed engine are just some of the details that will be included on the model. More than 200 individually cast and hand soldered parts will be used in each replica.

All models will be individually serial-numbered and will include a serialized machine brochure to certify authenticity.

Production will be limited to 150 models. At this time the price has not been set. Progress photos, dimensional details, pricing and delivery information will be updated as it becomes available on Classic Construction Models.

Model Announcement - Holt 75 Tractor & 8-Inch Howitzer

Classic Construction Models is pleased to announce our latest 1:24 precision scale brass model, the Holt 75 Tractor & 8-Inch Howitzer. This set represents an incredible historic machine crafted in the highest possible quality and detail, rare in both subject and execution.

The Machine:
The use of track-type tractors such as the Holt 75 during World War I provided the Allies with a dependable and powerful way to move munitions and provisions across the difficult and sometimes near impossible battlefields of Europe. With its 75 hp gas engine and endless-track propulsion it was able to move large field pieces such as the Vickers Mark VI howitzer faster and further than a team of horses or mules. Firing an 8-inch round this artillery piece’s effectiveness was greatly enhanced by the mobility provided by the tractor. By war’s end, thousands of these units were being used by the Allied forces. In concert, these machines were instrumental in bringing an end to the conflict.

The Model:
Honoring the original machine and howitzer combination, each of these model sets is hand-assembled from hundreds of pieces and hand painted in period military colors. All the features of the real Holt 75 tractor have been replicated in exquisite detail, from control levers to engine bolts. The Vickers Mark VI howitzer, created from drawings drafted by CCM from historical records, has the same attention to detail as the tractor, with its bolt-studded carriage, brake gear, adjustment wheels – including rifling of the barrel. Almost everything is articulated from the traverse and elevation, rolling wheels, recoiling barrel to the working breech. All models are individually serial numbered.Approx. 25" L, 5" W, 6" H

Overall approximate dimensions are 25" long, 5" wide, 6" tall. This extremely limited edition model will be created in the number of 33 pieces, at a price of $5995.00 each. More details can be seen here:  http://ccmodels.com/caterpillar-Cat-Holt-75-howitzer.shtmlhttp://ccmodels.com/caterpillar-Cat-Holt-75-howitzer.shtml

You must contact us immediately if you wish to purchase, as these are limited to a precious few. When they are sold out we will never make the same model again, and it will become history itself.

Model Announcement: 1:24 scale Cat 336E Excavator

We are pleased to announce our latest 1:24 precision scale die-cast model.

The Machine:
Since its introduction in the 1990s, the 300 Series family of excavators has become the industry standard in general, quarry, and heavy construction applications. The first model in the new E Series family, the 336E, meets the demands for more productivity and comfort, less fuel consumption and emissions. Hydraulic horsepower for the 336E has increased from the previous series’ output due to a high-pressure system, including pump and other improvements. This translates into the new E Series moving more material in less time. The operator's station has everything needed to meet the needs for comfort and productivity. All systems can be monitored easily on the large LCD display. 291 flywheel horsepower is provided by the proven Cat C9.3 ACERT diesel engine, featuring three different power modes: high power, standard power, and economy power. The operator can easily change between these to meet the needs for the job at hand – all to help manage and conserve fuel. An extensive range of Cat Work Tools for the 336E includes buckets, compactors, grapples, multiprocessors, thumbs, rakes, rippers, and shears. Quick couplers allow one person to change work tools in seconds for maximum performance and flexibility on a job site.

The Model:
The CCM 1:24 scale die-cast model of the 336E Excavator is an impressive piece. Working at this scale allows us to add even more highly accurate detail than usual. Hydraulic lines and connections, manifolds, bolts, engine – all are represented in stunning accuracy. Doors and access panels open like they do on the real machine allowing a great view of the full operator's cab and C9.3 ACERT power plant. Connections for the cooling, electrical, and hydraulic systems are fully detailed. Individually-linked track shoes are spring tensioned. Boom and stick have a full range of motion, echoing the real machine. The Cat paint scheme, markings and safety labels are all approved by Caterpillar. The 336E Excavator model will be available in two work tool variations: a general duty bucket version with hydraulic thumb, and a quick-coupler version with interchangeable general-duty bucket and wide-cleanout buckets.

Model Announcement: Cat No.12 Motor Grader

The Machine:

The venerable Caterpillar No.12 motor grader was first introduced in 1957, and has proved so successful, there is still a modernized version of the 12 in Caterpillar's current product line. Only manufactured in the USA, the 12 was a central part of the company's aggressive push into the grader market, and it is estimated over 4,200 of these machines were produced.

The 12 came standard with a D318 six-cylinder engine, producing 115 flywheel horsepower. It featured tandem drive rear wheels and a choice of push-button gas starting engine or 24-volt direct electric starting of the diesel engine. The grader's blade had an incredible range of movement, allowing it to cut anything from a level roadway to a vertical embankment. When it came to demanding road work, there was not much the 12 couldn't handle.

Production of the Cat 12 ended in 1959, when it was replaced by the Caterpillar 12E. Even today one can still find these machines in service to those who enjoy putting a piece of history to use.

The Model:

CCM's upcoming precision-scale model of the No.12 is yet another in our history of museum-grade works of art. Crafted in fine brass at 1:24th scale, one can be assured that no detail will be spared. It  will be approximately 13” long, 7” wide, 5” tall, and comprised of well over 250 individual brass parts.

All the control linkages to the steering have been re-created, as well as the drives to the moldboard side shift rack. Cabin interior is accessed by the opening doors and all controls and gauges are visible. The highly detailed D318 pony motor can be viewed easily through the open sided engine compartment.  In addition to the standard blade, our model also includes the optional V-type scarifier attachment. All of this detail sits upon realistic rubber tires. The No.12 has been finished with paint accurate to the period, and appropriate markings and safety labels.

Each model comes proudly packaged in a deluxe collector's box and includes a signed and serial numbered vintage spec brochure reproduction.

Please contact us if you would like to be placed on the waiting list for this unique creation, of which there will only be an estimated 200 pieces produced.
